One of the things I've learned and adapted to in these 10 something years of photographing weddings is that each couple has their wedding budget and sometimes that doesn't line up with the cost of my services in order for me to keep this thing running. And sometimes, a couple like Casey and Evan comes along the kind of couple who loves me and my work very specifically and have even gone so far as to tell me that I'm their favorite. So I put my thinking cap on because the clients who love my work like that are always such a breath of fresh air. I throw out a number to them, in their case, their budget could afford me for two hours of wedding photography and, you know what, for them that was perfect! Sometimes, all you need is the coverage of the ceremony itself and some beautiful family, bridal party, and newlywed photos afterward. This couple got all that and some with their, literally, 15 minute long ceremony!

Hi!  I am Kaia, your portrait photographer. Kaia means “Earth” in Norwegian and I live up to that by tree hugging, dog loving, and nature walking.  My first word was “happy,” I still love to jump in puddles, I strive to live simply and self-sustainably, and my favorite color is yellow.  I'm married to a stunningly handsome, ridiculously talented, and intensely loving musician husband. We have three beautiful kids, one furry friend, and we all live happily ever after in a little house on a hill in the land of southern Wisconsin. 

 I am a portrait photographer (senior pictures, newborn photography, family photographer, boudoir photographer... ) and freelance photographer serving the greater Madison area.  I fell in love with portrait photography in high school.  I love that great portraits tell a person's story; who they are, where they've been, and what they love. I also fell in love with photojournalism in high school. Now-a-days you can catch my work in Madison Magazine, GoDaddy Social, Tough Mudder Rockford, BRAVA Magazine, and AirBnb;  I’ve had the privilege of being on the cover several times now!

I strive to serve my clients lovingly, creating a series of memories you can cherish forever, and making you my forever friend. We do that by having fun! Since we want you to look like your natural, beautiful self we start with your natural poses and I direct you from there. I'm more than just your portrait photographer, I give life to your memories. During our shoot you'll be taking lots of breaks from smiling right at the camera to interact with each other and have some fun!
