On a frigid day we ventured out to take some engagement pictures of Kari + Nick.  This being our second attempt at scheduling their shoot Kari opted to keep the session in favor of the sunshine and promised to brave the biting and windy weather.  I'm so glad!  These two rocked it and we have some killer images as a result!

For their shoot we started at their home then bounced around to catch some pictures with an open field, an awesome stack of logs, and at the old Schuler building.

This shoot was a dream come true.  Sometimes as a photographer you come across and image or a setting you can't live without.  On this day I got to photograph with a pile of logs!  What I also loved about this session was simply working with Kari + Nick and photographing with some snow.  I do love me some winter wonderland photography and Kari + Nick are just the sweetest, most fun loving couple.

Hi!  I am Kaia, your portrait photographer. Kaia means “Earth” in Norwegian and I live up to that by tree hugging, dog loving, and nature walking.  My first word was “happy,” I still love to jump in puddles, I strive to live simply and self-sustainably, and my favorite color is yellow.  I'm married to a stunningly handsome, ridiculously talented, and intensely loving musician husband. We have three beautiful kids, one furry friend, and we all live happily ever after in a little house on a hill in the land of southern Wisconsin. 

I am a portrait photographer (senior pictures, newborn photography, family photographer, boudoir photographer... ) and freelance photographer serving the greater Madison area.  I fell in love with portrait photography in high school.  I love that great portraits tell a person's story; who they are, where they've been, and what they love. 

I strive to serve my clients lovingly, creating a series of memories you can cherish forever, and making you my forever friend. We do that by having fun! Since we want you to look like your natural, beautiful self we start with your natural poses and I direct you from there. I'm more than just your portrait photographer, I give life to your memories. During our shoot you'll be taking lots of breaks from smiling right at the camera to interact with each other and have some fun!
